Monterey Dog LLCContributions > Map Illustration / Trail Research & Evaluation / Graphic Design / Illustration / Photography / Community Resource DevelopmentOverview
Monterey Dog required a comprehensive, accessible map of the Monterey Peninsula, highlighting all pet-friendly trails. The brochure was distributed through local businesses, including coffee shops, bike shops, recreation centers, and hotels, to support both residents and visitors seeking dog-friendly outdoor adventures.
Approach
Conducted extensive research to identify and verify pet-friendly trails throughout the region, including on-the-ground exploration of complex routes.
Evaluated each trail for accessibility, removing overgrown, restricted, or non-pet-friendly paths, and focusing only on those suitable for dogs and their owners.
Illustrated a custom map of the Monterey Peninsula, differentiating key areas (such as Carmel, Pacific Grove, and Monterey) with distinct color sections.
Numbered trails for easy reference and navigation, ensuring users could quickly locate their desired routes.
Verified routes using multiple resources, including national park maps, satellite imagery, and information from local visitor centers.
Designed the brochure to include informative content about Monterey Dog, the purpose behind the map, and a dedicated ad space on the back for additional outreach.
Provided original photography to further enhance the guide and promote the organization.
